Biographical/Historical note

James Strother Caller was born on 8 May 1810 in Washington County, Alabama, son of Col. James and Winifred Duke Caller. He fought in the Creek and Seminole Wars in 1836.

Caller married Jane Frances Marks on 16 October 1842. The couple had six children: (1) Greene Duke (1843-1853); (2) Mary Alice (1845-1907); (3) Edward M. (1847-1873); (4) Maria Rebecca (1853-1944); (5) Sarah Chandler Pearl (1863-1931); and (6) John Fleming (1866-1938).

He died on 25 December 1870 in Clarke County, Alabama.
