Scope and Contents note

The collection contains a late nineteenth century ledger with handwritten notes regarding the history, legends, significant members, and language of the Choctaw Indians. A significant portion of the book deals with the Choctaw language. The book also contains two typewritten pages of information about the Choctaw. The back cover of the book includes the name of the author.

Biographical/Historical note

Robert D. Spratt was born on 25 February 1879 and died on 11 November 1950. Besides the volumes on the Choctaw Indians, he also wrote A History of the Town of Livingston, Alabama.
