The collection contains a photocopy of the typescript essay, presumably written by Julius C. Greene. The essay describes the early settlement of Jefferson COunty, Alabama, and also includes a muster roll of Company C of the 19th Alabama C.S.A. Regiment written by Greene's father.

Julius C. Greene was a descendant of some of the early settlers of Jefferson County, Alabama.
