The collection contains two letters. The first, dated 8 November 1834, to Harvey Chase of Fall River, Massachusetts, by J. B. Toulmin of the commission firm Toulmin, Hazard and Company of Mobile, Alabama, which includes market news and discusses selling cotton to Chase (it is written on a printed market report of the firm dated November 5). The second, dated 8 December 1834, to A. Bell and Company of New York, which discusses business matters, particularly cotton shipments.
