Letters from friends and relatives to members of the Coyner family of Colfax, Indiana. The letters deal with everyday life, and one of the writers mentions seeing the D.W. Griffith movie Birth of a Nation.
Scope and Contents note
The collection contains nine letters to members of the Coyner family of Colfax, Indiana. The letters are to Jake Coyner, Morton Coyner, Florence (Mrs. Morton Coyner), and someone greeted as "Friend Mike." All of the letters to Morton Coyner are from his sister Lollie, who evidently lived in California. Five of the six letters to Jake Coyner are from Violet Loutzenhiser of Butler, Indiana. The letters deal with everyday life. One of Violet Loutzenhiser's mentions seeing D. W. Griffith's movie Birth of a Nation.
