This collection consists of a letter written in 1870 by J.E. B____ to a friend. At the time the letter was written J.E.B____, Jr., was a student at Lake Forest Academy in Illinois, preparing for a class that would assure his entrance into Kenyon College, and explaining that he will be required to read Homer and Xenophon's Anabasis in Greek.
