This collection consists of eleven letters from C. J. (Cliff) Granos, Boston, Massachusetts, and England during World War II, to his wife, Ruth Granos, Chicago, Illinois. The letters discuss, among other things, his sickness and Christmas.

Scope and Contents note
This collection consists of eleven letters from C. J. (“Cliff”) Granos, Boston and England, to his wife, Ruth Granos, Chicago, Illinois. The dates of these letters are from November 8, 1943 to December 26, 1943.
The first letter dated November 8, 1943 is written on Boston Young Men’s Christian Association, Huntington Avenue Branch, stationery, where he is at the time of this letter.
Nine of the letters are written in England while he is in the hospital with pneumonia. He writes about his sickness.
The last letter, dated December 26, 1943, he is released from the hospital and is in a different company. He writes about how he spent his Christmas in England.
Biographical/Historical note
Private C. J. (“Cliff”) Granos is in Company A of the 4th Replacement Battalion and in Casual Detachment in the United States Army during World War II.
