Letters from Dr. Edmund D. Spear Jr. of Boston, Massachusetts, to Millie Peterson and her mother, Mrs. A.R. Peterson, also of Boston, between 1880 and 1882, telling them of his affection for Millie. Also included in the collection are several newspaper clippings and poems, some regarding love and relationships.

Biographical/Historical note

Dr. Edmund.D. Spear Jr. lived in Boston, Massachusetts. Millie Peterson and her mother, Mrs. A.R. Peterson, also lived in Boston between 1880 and 1882. Millie and Edmund married October 27, 1881, at Old South Church.

Scope and Contents note

Letters from Dr. Edmund D. Spear Jr. of Boston, Massachusetts, to Millie Peterson and her mother, Mrs. A.R. Peterson, also of Boston, between 1880 and 1882. The letters from Spear to Millie record the beginning of their relationship, their eventual falling in love, and ultimately their marriage. Throughout these exchanges, Spear writes to Mrs. Peterson about his love for her daughter. Also included in the collection are several newspaper clippings and poems, some regarding love and relationships.
