Scope and Contents note
The collection contains miscellaneous papers and photographs of PFC Ely Naparstek of Cincinnati, Ohio. Many of the documents have to do with Naparstek's stay in the Borden General Hospital, one of the Army's special centers for the hard-of-hearing. While in Borden General, Naparstek participated in (and even produced) several musical and dramatic entertainments for the patients and staff of the hospital and was broadcast over the hospital's public address system. Also included in the collection are a number of photographs of Naparstek and his wife, Jewelle.

Biographical/Historical note
Ely Naparstek was born on February 22, 1919 in Cincinnati, Ohio to David and Yetta Naparstek. He married Jewelle McPheron on November 23, 1938 and enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1943. At some point, he was admitted to Borden General Hospital to undergo testing and evaluation for hearing loss. Naparstek was discharged in the summer of 1945. He died in Cincinnati on June 27, 2001.
