This is a ledger pasted full of cuttings, mostly from Illinois newspapers between 1895 and 1897, on various topics. Predominant themes include Christianity/agnosticism, football, and theatre, with some items on politics, including political cartoons, and women's rights.

Biographical/Historical note

The name of the compiler is unknown, but several of the articles refer to Chicago, Illinois, and a town called Evanston, as well as other locations in Illinois.

Scope and Contents note

Contains clippings, mostly from newspapers between 1895 and 1897, on various topics. Predominant themes include Christianity/agnosticism, football, and theatre, with some items on politics, including political cartoons, and women's rights. Some cuttings have been taken from books and other publications, and all are pasted in a ledger.
