Biographical/Historical note
From the poem, one could infer that Elias Zeller was a resident of Locust Grove, Adams County, Ohio in 1898.
Scope and Contents note
The collection contains a poem written on the outside of an empty envelope. The envelope is from the "Oxford Citizen" of Oxford, Ohio, cryptically addressed to Elias Zeller, care of the Post Master. The poem begins to the Post Master saying that the "letter is for a 'feller,' Well known at home, Elias Zeller." The envelope also has a Locust Grove postmark and a three cent stamp.
