Scope and Contents note
The collection contains a letter from Mettie to her sick aunt telling her about the Three Mile Island nuclear accident near her home in Pennsylvania. The incident consisted of the release of radioactive coolant from a nuclear generating station. The letter is written on The Dunes Hotel stationary with the hotel logo printed in color in the header.
Biographical/Historical note
In 1979, Mettie lived about 10 miles from Three Mile Island near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
