Biographical/Historical note
In 1995, Tom moved from Albany, Inidana to Las Vegas.
Scope and Contents note
The collection contains a letter to Tom from his dad to be opened on his way to Las Vegas. The letter indicates the family has been divided but that Tom's parents both support his move from Albany, Inidana to Las Vegas and whatever he chooses to do in the future. Tom is admonished to "stay positive and believe" in himself and to "find a church to get some spiritual direction." His father ends the letter saying "Write your mom and grandparents often for they are to be honored. Write to me if you have problems and I can help." The letter is written on the stationary of four doctors, but does not indicate which is Tom's father: Howard A. Pope, M.D., William V. Croft, M.D., Thomas W. McKain, M.D., and Anna M. Fisher, M.D.
