Biographical/Historical note

Mrs. H. C. Smith of Sonoma County, California receives a letter from her mother in Peoria, Illinois.

Scope and Contents note

Mrs. H. C. Smith receives a letter from her mother about her brother's wishes for marriage. Her mother disapproves of his selection and will not acknowledge the couple. It is also agreed that presents will not be exchanged as times are hard.
