Scope and Contents note
The collection contains a letter from a mother to her daughter, updating her on family life. She mentions that the sister of an old friend was visiting in the area and had been sick with fever and ague, had three teeth pulled. In the night she began to bled where the teeth had been and as they could not stop the bleeding, she bled to death. The back page of the letter is in a different hand-writing, but the name at the end is illegible. The writer is a female - probably a sister to the recipient of the letter as she says "Ma says I had better fill this up..." This writer also states that she is planning to go to a social later that week.
