Biographical/Historical note

The Swenson family were Swedish immigrants living in and around Dayton, Iowa.

Scope and Contents note

The collection contains eleven letters written to and by members of the Swenson family. The majority of the letters were written to Everett Swenson by his sister Viola and discuss improvements to her house, their mother, and news of various relatives and neighbors. Another letter from Everett's granddaughter Ina told of the latest news of her daughter Shirley. One letter, written in Swedish, was written to Emelia Swenson from her sister Betty. Clara Anderson of the Woman's Home and Foreign Missionary Society wrote to Mathilda Swenson regarding a subscription to the society's newsletter.
