Scope and Contents note

This collection contains letters written by PFC Thomas Atwood to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Atwood of Williamsburg, Ohio. The letters date from 1944-1945. In earlier letters PFC Thomas Atwood tells of his daily life in the Fifth Training Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia. In later letters he writes about his recovery from a wound to the head while serving in Europe. There is also a letter from 1st Lieutenant G.E. Stoudt, of Billings General Hospital, Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana, to Mrs. Atwood giving her instructions concerning PFC Thomas Atwood's future furlough from the hospital. There is one photo of PFC Atwood.

Biographical/Historical note

Thomas Atwood was the son of Charles M. and Erna Atwood, of Williamsburg, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
