Bernhart Forbau was a Staff Sargeant in the United States Army during World War II.
Robert C. Irwin was a Captain in the Medical Detachment of the U.S. Army 659 F.A. Battalion, during World War II.
Paul Johnson was a Private in the U.S. Army during World War II.
William K. Olson was a Baker, 2nd class, in the 3rd Special U.S. Naval Construction Battalion, A.B.R.B. (Advanced Base Receiving Barracks), during World War II.

Staff Sergeant Bernhart Forbau
Scope and Contents note
Letters written by PFC Bernhart Forbau to his sister and brother-in-law, Olga and George Dellitt. Forbau wrote regularly at least once a week, and in one of his early letters (postmarked December 5, 1942) he explained how to tell where he was stationed - without the censors realizing it. It was a formula based on how the page numbers of his letters were written, and included the use of dashes, dots, and parentheses.
